BIO
Steve Junot and the Infamous has a sound that's based on the roots, but with a funky, modern edge. Imagine if B.B. King, The Meters and Black Keys formed a band together, it would probably sound a lot like this.
Originally from Houma, LA, Steve grew up in the shadow of New Orleans and absorbed its sound and its influences. Early on, he was influenced by the funk and zydeco on Bourbon Street. That's where he started developing his percussive style of playing guitar. "I think of the guitar as a percussion instrument first, and a melodic/harmonic instrument second. The rhythm informs everything I do...even when I solo", says Steve.
Their debut album is titled "Last Shot".
Steve says, "We decided to call it Last Shot because although it's our first album, it's probably the last proper album we'll do. The way the industry works with streaming now, I see us releasing a single every month or so instead of releasing an album every year."
IndiePulse Music describes it this way: Last Shot is just too good for any music lover to pass up. It’s an album riddled with lusty lead guitars and vocals as virtuosic as the string play that accompanies them, and even though both of these attributes could be regarded as a little old-fashioned, that’s exactly what makes them as charming as they are. Steve Junot is a blues player making music without any sort of socially-mandated rulebook as a compass; he’s letting his heart lead the way and producing records like this one that will likely stand the test of time because of it.
The Live Experience:
Steve moved to SW Florida and immediately re-connected with his high school buddy, drummer James Varnado. James has played with Dickey Betts, George Porter Jr. and many other greats. While Steve and James form the core of the live group, two bass players are rotated in and out. Corey Duplechien, when he's not playing with Tab Benoit, is their main guy. And Barry Williams fills in when needed.
Steve Junot and the Infamous live however, is a totally different experience than on the album. While they stay true to the recorded songs, they stretch out with improvs and jams bringing the experience to a higher level. These guys definitely bring a jam band mentality to their live performances.
Their live performances are an infectious, upbeat, and joyous experience. Driven by the percussive guitar of Steve, the drumming of James Varnado, this unit combines blues, funk, and rock into a delicious musical gumbo.
You'll never get the same show twice with these guys...their improv skills are like one mind melding together on the stage that will leave you saying to yourself, "I've never heard THAT before". Anything can happen...and usually does!
If you appreciate blues, rock, funk and jam bands, you are sure to love these guys!
*Oh, in case you were wondering...Junot is pronounced "Juno" and Houma is pronounced "Home-uh"
OUR LATEST RELEASE:
Recorded in Houma, LA during covid, the album is played with passion. "There's some mistakes...we left 'em in...we're human beings. I think too many times these days people make an album and it's edited to perfection and it takes all of the passion out. We're not machines, we're humans." Says Steve.
Speaking of humans...here are the awesome humans that played on this album:
Steve Junot-Guitars, Vocals
Corey Duplechien (Tab Benoit's bass player) -played bass
Sam Lecompte who was Mike Zito's drummer in 07 and 08, played drums.
Ashley Taylor-Background Vocals
It was mixed by Lincoln Parish (Cage the Elephant)

WHAT THE PRESS IS SAYING:
Steve Junot and the Infamous’ new album isn’t just the meatiest underground blues-rock has dropped in a while – it’s also the most enduringly appealing.--Melody Maker Magazine
Junot shows just as much of an interest in making these tracks palatable to the casual listener as he does the diehard blues brother, and despite the difficulties in doing so, he balances out the elements of pop, soul, and rock without ever skipping a beat.--Indie Shark
The indie scene was asking for some stone-cold blues riffs, and Junot answered the call with a satisfying sound in this LP that I don’t plan on popping out of my stereo anytime soon--Hollywood Digest
